The WITS Collaborative Partnership, or WCP, was formed in the spirit of collaboration by the original adopters and contributors to WITS.
The purpose is to facilitate cost and resource sharing for the enhancement of the WITS system and its use within the members' organizations. The benefits of membership extend beyond system enhancements, into shared ideas for process improvement, treatment improvement, and combined efforts for grant writing and cross organizational partnerships. As the number of WITS users has grown, so has the WCP membership.
Successful Collaboration Efforts
As WITS has grown, so has the opportunities for costs sharing and collaboration. WITS is based on a “building-block” model where each new installation, builds onto the foundation that has already been created by all of the other previous installations. New adopters do not pay for what is already there; it comes at no licensing cost. New adopters only pay for new features that they want and for the customization and configuration of existing features to meet their organizations business needs. Since money is not being spent on huge licensing fees, it allows for money to be spent on continuous product improvement and enhancement. It also allows each new adopter to benefit from all of the effort contributed by the previous adopters and contribute their money into new features to the benefit of all previous and future adopters.
